What Personal Information Do We Collect?
Account and Registration Information
When creating or logging into an account we may collect:
- Email address
- Authentication credentials
- Account identifiers
- Google account identifier (when using Google login)
Household and User Content
Chores Nest allows you to create and store household information. This may include:
- Tasks and chore assignments
- Calendar events and reminders
- Grocery or shopping lists
- Expense tracking and financial entries
- Personal notes and household records
- Nutrition tracking information
- Documents uploaded to the Vault
- Household member profiles
- Notification preferences
Guest Mode Information
In Guest Mode:
- Most information remains stored locally on the device
- A temporary identifier may be used to maintain the session

Device and Technical Information
When using our Services we may automatically collect limited technical information such as:

Where and How Do We Collect Personal Information?
From You
We collect information directly when you create an account, log in, create tasks, lists, notes, or other household content, upload documents to the Vault, export or manage your data, or contact customer support.
From Your Device
Chores Nest uses AsyncStorage and WatermelonDB to store data locally on your device for offline functionality. The app may also use technical components to maintain authentication sessions, synchronize data between devices, and store cached information.
Cloud Infrastructure
Chores Nest uses secure cloud services to authenticate user accounts, synchronize data across devices, store backups of user data, and store uploaded documents.
Permissions and Device Features
Camera Access: Requested when you choose to scan documents, upload files to the Vault, or capture images. Camera access occurs only when initiated by the user.
File and Media Access: Requested so users can upload attachments, export data files, or import images and documents.
Notifications: Allow the app to send reminders for events, tasks, vault expiration alerts, and financial reminders. Users can disable notifications through device settings.
Boot and Alarm Permissions: Used for exact alarm scheduling and boot completed notifications, allowing reminders to continue after device restarts.
Audio Access: The current version of Chores Nest does not record or access audio and does not use microphone permissions.
How Do We Use Personal Information?
- To Provide the Services: Manage your account, synchronize household data, display tasks, events, notes, and reminders, and manage family profiles.
- To Improve the Application: Analyze anonymized usage data to improve stability, detect bugs, understand feature usage, and improve user experience.
- To Provide Notifications: Send reminders, alerts, and updates related to your tasks or events.
- Security: Detect suspicious activity, protect accounts from unauthorized access, and maintain service security.
Advertising: Chores Nest currently does not display advertisements. If advertisements are introduced in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated and users will be informed. Personal data will not be sold to advertisers.
Who Do We Share Personal Information With?
We do not sell personal information.
Service Providers: We may share information with trusted providers that help operate the service, including cloud hosting providers, authentication providers, infrastructure and database services, and analytics and monitoring services. These providers may only process data to operate the service.
Legal Requirements: Information may be disclosed if required to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests from authorities, prevent fraud or abuse, or protect user safety.
How Can You Control Your Information?
Within the application you can update account information, manage family member profiles, export your data in JSON or CSV formats, and delete your account.
Deleting your account will remove authentication records, delete user data from active systems, and clear locally stored application data.
Children’s Privacy
Chores Nest is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that personal data has been collected from a child, we will delete that information.
Data Retention and Storage
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Services. If you delete your account, your data will be removed from active systems. Backup data may remain temporarily before being permanently removed.
International Data Processing
Depending on the infrastructure providers used, data may be processed in multiple countries. By using the Services, you consent to the transfer and processing of information in these locations.
Changes to This Privacy Statement
We may update this Privacy Statement from time to time. When changes occur, the updated policy will be posted on choresnest.com and the “Last Updated” date will be revised. Continued use of the Services indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
